This official opening celebration was on the 1st january 2011 to 2nd january 2011 at the house of Ketua Kampong Kg Sungai Matan and along the river bridge of Kg Sungai Matan. The event organized by the consultative council of the village (Majlis Perundingan Kampung Sungai Matan, Mukim Kota Batu, Negara Brunei Darussalam.

Kg Sungai Matan is one of the village selected part of "KENALI NEGARA KITANI (KNK) @know your country" by the project of Department of Tourism Development. This coronation is through activities like fishing challange and carnivals . The manufacture of local products are also held such as liking fish, crackers Lekor, anchovy dry, making belacan and dried shrimp. The activities in the Kg Sungai Matan is known as Eco-Tourism to domestic and international travel.

The winter village was set up at the main atrium level one of the Empire Hotel. Several fun activities corner was created for children where they can assemble and decorate their own gingerbread and gingerhouse. Many people also take photos with santa claus and some decoration on that day.
